Strategies
1. To help those students that need the extra support, developing a Positive Behavior Support plan. This will be a plan will include what the student will do and what teachers, parents and counselor will do to alter the environment and teach that will replace bad behaviors with good behaviors. (Villa, Thousand & Nevin, 2010) |
2. A MTSS (Multi-Tier System Supports) is a way that schools are trying to provide support for all students and to meet all needs. Instead of just focusing on academics, MTSS also focuses on social, community and behavioral aspects. Teachers are asked to work together with teacher aides, parents, caseworkers, administrators and most importantly the student with MTSS. (Hurst, 2014). |
3. With those students that do have 504 plans or IEPs, letting them know on a one on one basis that you are aware of those plans and that you care about them enough to succeed.
